Contact Seminar, 11 – 14 October, Berlin, Germany26 November 2007
The UK was represented at the seminar in Berlin on 11-14 October by 3 delegates who were seeking potential partners to form Grundtvig Partnerships. Tanveer and Rami from the Black and Ethnic Minorities infrastructure in Scotland and Judy Crabb from the Federation of Stadium Communities were accompanied by Mike Trueman from the Grundtvig team.
“I have to say that it was a fascinating and very enjoyable experience. There were around 50 people there from 20 different countries. Everything was conducted in English which was great if not a little embarrassing as I had only limited command of any other language. The format of the event made it very easy to learn about everyone’s project ideas and the European Fair where everyone offered samples of local delicacies was an ‘ice breaker’ treat for the taste buds as well as an insight into one another’s home areas
“And did I find partners? The answer is yes. Our group consists of two people from Germany (one from the ‘East’ and one from the ‘West’) from Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Italy, and me from the UK. We recognised from listening to each other’s project ideas and interests, that we shared a common concern about how to motivate the over 50s to continue to learn. Our proposed project is called ’50+ still time to play a part’ – now all we have to do is write the application and secure the funding”.
